As our Social Awareness Project for 2011, Phela Construction Services has undertaken the refurbishment and renovations of the Rondebult Primary School. This school was closed in 2009 due to the shortage of funds to renovate and run the school. We came to hear about the plight of this school and children through the community of Dawn Park while busy with a project for SAB Miller. We offered our services to the Department of education and the Gauteng Provincial Administration and in January 2011, we were asked to become a part of the team to uplift the school. Phela Construction Services volunteered to supply and paint the entire school exterior, roofs and the interior of all buildings. We also volunteered to handle all the carpentry/joinery works and
to tile all floors of all buildings. The project started in February 2011 we are nearing completion of this project. It has been such a pleasure for us to be associated with this project because not only are we giving back to the community but we are also helping with the upliftment of a township that is very much in need of infrastructure, namely Dawn Park. Phela Construction is also currently in the process of communication with The Rotary Club of South Africa, whom identify a project in Eldorado Park, which they have asked us to assist with, as our next social awareness project. We are just as excited to become involved in this project. Stay tuned for news on this project in the very near future. Here are some pictures of the Rondebult Primary School Project.
